Portchester Charity Cider & Sausage Festival returns to the Portchester Community Centre, for the 4th year running, on Saturday 21st October 2017. The event will run from 6pm to 11pm and promises to showcase local cider, sausage and ale producers as well as offer live music, a pub quiz and raffle.
The Festival is once again being held to raise money for charity and this year the centre staff were asked to each nominate a charity of their choice. Five charities were chosen and those were St. Francis School Fareham, SSAFA Gosport and Fareham Branch, Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS), Endometriosis UK and The Miscarriage Association. Organisers hope that the local community and businesses will get behind the event to make it the most successful yet.
Carol Mertens, Centre Manager commented “Portchester Cider & Sausage Festival has become an established charity event in the local community providing a fun filled evening showcasing all things cider and sausage. But what is so special about the event is the money we raise for both local and national charities as well as for the Community Centre itself.”
Portchester Community Centre is a registered charity and is an integral part of the community providing a wide variety of events from toddler groups to cookery clubs for 3 to 12-year olds to social activities for the elderly. The centre relies on the success of such events as well as private lettering to individuals, organisations and businesses. If you run a local business and would like to partner with the community centre there are sponsorship opportunities available to support this event and ensure the maximum amount is raised for the nominated charities.
This year there has been a bigger focus on local producers and so on offer you will find ciders from Meon Valley Cider based in Petersfield, Mr Whiteheads Cider from Alton and 146 Cider from Southampton. In addition, a variety of sausages will be on offer including gluten free and vegetarian and once again the well known local butcher The Twells Tradition from Portchester will be supplying the piggy delights.
Tickets are on sale now at £7.50 per person (over 18s only) to include a souvenir festival glass and programme. For the first time Portchester Community Centre can take debit and credit card payments either in person at the Centre or over the phone. Tickets can also be booked online via www.ticketsource.co.uk/portchester-community-centre.
